San Angelo ISD Schools to be Closed Tuesday, February 16 Due to Weather

Due to historic hazardous weather conditions including icy roadways and overpasses which cause dangerous driving situations for our families and young drivers, San Angelo ISD campuses and offices will be CLOSED for the day, tomorrow, February 16, 2021 for the safety of our students and staff. San Angelo is also experiencing continued rolling power outages and blackouts throughout the city which affect access to reliable internet for our families and SAISD’s ability to heat our facilities. There will be no expectation of online attendance for in-person students and Virtual Academy students.

SAISD has been in constant contact with the National Weather Service (NWS), TxDOT, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and other local agencies.

It is important to note that decisions made regarding school delays and/or closures are not based on temperature, but icy road conditions that make travel dangerous.

We hope our students, families, staff and community are staying safe and warm in this historic weather. San Angelo ISD appreciates the work of our SAISD Facilities and Maintenance team as well as first responders, linemen and other critical workers helping to keep our community safe.
